Art & Design
At Lambs Lane, we aim to provide all pupils with a high-quality art education which engages, inspires and challenges children, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and confidence to experiment and create their own works of art.
Our art curriculum is divided into three disciplines: drawing, painting and sculpture. We ensure all pupils have an opportunity to explore their ideas within these areas and are taught new skills through discussion about mark-making, colour, pattern, texture and form. We also teach our children about the great artists, craft makers and designers, allowing them to analyse and evaluate their works – using artistic language - and to imitate their style.
At Lambs Lane, we want our children to appreciate art and respond in a variety of ways. We provide opportunities for our children during Art Week, where we dedicate our curriculum time to art, craft and design and arrange for the children to attend workshops to study new techniques and produce pieces of art. We invite artists into school and work with our pupils on collaborative pieces. We aim for our pupils to visit an art gallery during their school career.
Throughout our children's art education, they will be given opportunities to think critically and develop an understanding about how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
